Climate
Why it matters
Climate change affects every part of our lives: our health, our communities, our future opportunities, and the places we care about.
The issues
Young people highlighted clear problems:
- Dwindling resources - food, water, and energy becoming harder to access
- Tickbox climate action - organisations saying they care but not doing much
- Lack of youth voice - decisions made about young people, not with them
- Intersectional impacts - unfair effects on marginalised groups
- Lack of education - climate learning is inconsistent or confusing
- “Someone else’s problem” - adults passing responsibility on
- “It’s not cool to care” -stigma around speaking up
- Overreliance/use of AI - organisations using AI for ads/workshops instead of lowimpact options like outdoor learning; young people want climate action that doesn’t create more emissions
What young people said?
Young people said it feels like:
- Resources are running out
- The planet is being damaged faster than we can fix it
- Decisions are being made without them
Climate justice also links to poverty, racism, disability, rural access, and inequality, meaning some groups are hit harder than others.
What we want decision makers to do
- Reducing consumption on national scale
- Taxing the 1% and corporations
- Good long-term strategy
- International partnerships + cohesion across Nations
- Anti-capitalism – an end of profit-driven politics
