Our Fundraising Promise
We value the trust you place in YouthAction NI and want you to know what you can expect from us when we ask for your support. We’re committed to the highest standards of fundraising practice, in line with the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice.
1. We commit to high standards
- YouthAction NI will ensure that all staff, volunteers and any third-party contractors or fundraisers engaged by us follow the Code of Fundraising Practice, this Promise, and all relevant laws and regulations.
- We comply with laws covering charities, fundraising, data protection, health & safety, and other relevant areas.
- We display the Fundraising Regulator badge on our fundraising communications where appropriate as a signal of our commitment to ethical fundraising.
2. We will be honest, open & transparent
- We will always tell the truth, avoid exaggeration, and do what we promise.
- We will clearly explain who we are, what YouthAction NI does, and how your donation or support will be used.
- We will provide clear information about how you can give, change or stop a regular donation
Where we work with commercial partners or third parties, or if someone raises funds on our behalf, we will make transparent how the relationship works and how funds will be handled.
We will explain our fundraising costs and how they support our mission. If asked, we’ll answer reasonable questions about fundraising activities, income, and the use of funds.
3. We will be respectful
- We will respect your rights, privacy, and dignity.
- We will never apply undue pressure or coercion to donate. If you choose not to give, or to stop giving, we will accept your decision without pressure or follow-up.
- We will take care with the language and images we use, so as not to distress or mislead.
- We will respect your contact preferences (mail, email, phone, SMS etc.), and if you tell us not to contact you in a particular way, we will honour that.
- We will have special consideration for those in vulnerable circumstances, and adapt our approach when needed.
4. We will be fair & reasonable
- We will ensure our fundraising methods are sensitive and appropriate, avoiding nuisance or disruption.
- We will consider the impact of our fundraising practices on the public, and adapt where necessary (for example in face-to-face, phone, or door-to-door fundraising).
- We will avoid using images or messaging intended to cause unnecessary distress or exaggeration.
5.We will be accountable & responsive
- If you have concerns or complaints about our fundraising, we will provide a clear, accessible process to raise them. We will listen, respond promptly, and learn from feedback.
- If our response does not satisfy you, you have the right to contact the Fundraising Regulator.
- We will monitor and record the number and nature of complaints received in relation to fundraising, and review our practices in light of them.
