Under data protection law, what is now known as General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR), YouthAction NI is a “Data Controller” and as such has a legal responsibility to ensure that you are aware of why we collect personal information and what we do with this information.
The aim of the GDPR is to protect you from privacy and data breaches in an increasingly data-driven world. As a result, this privacy notice explains how YouthAction NI will use the personal data it collects from you.
We are committed to upholding all our legal requirements under this law by;
Ø Only collecting what we need, keeping your data up to date, secure and private; and
Ø Protecting your rights which includes knowing what data we hold and having the right to get it removed at any time.
We collect personal data about you including medical conditions, details of next of kin, your opinions and community background as well as specific information such as bank details, if we make payments to you. We always ask for consent to collect and store this information on a registration form.
As a youth work organisation we collect personal data to;
Ø keep in contact with you;
Ø ensure your personal safety;
Ø deliver and continue to improve programmes to meet your needs;
Ø maintain organisational records;
Ø process qualifications; and
Ø report to funders to meet our contractual obligations.
All the personal data we hold about you will be processed by our staff and no third parties will have access to your personal data unless there is a legal obligation for us to provide them with this or unless you have given us your express consent to share this information with them. Please be aware that your personal information may be stored on a cloud based system whose servers are located within the EU or in secure cabinets. We take all reasonable steps to ensure that your personal data is processed securely.
We do not keep your data any longer than we need it. We have a personal data register that details how long we keep your data for and how we delete this information.
