Introduction
YouthAction Northern Ireland (YANI) is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all areas of our work and supply chains. We believe that all individuals have the right to live and work in freedom and dignity.
This statement sets out our approach to ensuring that modern slavery and human trafficking do not occur in our operations or those of our suppliers, partners, or contractors.
YANI is a registered charity (NIC106365) based in Northern Ireland. We work with over 10,000 young people annually through youth work, creative programmes, and community initiatives. As a values-driven organisation, we champion equality, inclusion, and the protection of human rights.
YANI’s supply chains are relatively low risk. They include:
We expect all our suppliers to uphold ethical labour practices, comply with all relevant laws and regulations, and to never engage in forced or child labour.
We have the following measures in place to reduce the risk of modern slavery:
All staff are made aware of their responsibility to help identify and report signs of modern slavery. Our safeguarding training includes content on trafficking and exploitation, particularly in the context of young people at risk.
As an organisation working directly with vulnerable and marginalised youth, YANI actively educates young people on their rights, the risks of exploitation, and how to seek help. We work closely with partner agencies to ensure a joined-up approach to youth protection and advocacy.
This statement is reviewed annually by our Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors. Any breaches of our commitments will be investigated promptly, with appropriate action taken.
If you suspect modern slavery in any context relating to YANI’s work, you can confidentially contact us at:
