Ending Violence Against Women & Girls (EVAWG)

This essential programme tackles one of the most urgent social issues of our time —violence against women and girls—through the power of youth education, empathy and action. YouthAction NI works with young people aged 14–25 to explore themes of gender, safety, respect and relationships, in safe and inclusive spaces. By equipping both young men and women with the knowledge and tools to challenge harmful behaviours and cultural norms, the programme builds a foundation for healthier communities. Each phase of the project—from issue-based workshops to youth-led community action—aims to promote real change, placing young people at the centre of solutions and advocacy.

Programme Phases

  • Engagement & Confidence Building: Identity, gender, teamwork
  • Issue-based Education: Masculinities, safety, mental health, sexuality
  • Social Action Projects: Youth-led community interventions
  • Recognition: Events and a Youth Manifesto for wider impact
  • 200 young people (ages 14–25, inclusive of urban/rural and multicultural groups)

At its heart is a youth work approach, using interactive methods, accredited learning, mentoring and peer-led leadership to build resilience, promote self-awareness and tackle the stigma around mental health. Through Our Generation young people can engage in practical, creative and meaningful activities.
