YouthAction are seeking Youth Workers to join their team on the Amplify project. Amplify is a regional youth work project operating in disadvantaged and polarised communities across 11 Northern Ireland Council areas and the 6 border counties of Ireland.

About the role

As a Youth Worker on the Amplify project, you will be responsible for providing youth work services across the designated council and community areas as assigned by the PEACEPLUS Project. You will be required to work with children and young people within local communities in a supportive and empowering capacity as outlined in the project’s requirements. You will be required to work alongside the Project Co-ordinator and also partner organisations to deliver the targets and outputs as assigned by the PEACEPLUS project. The role will require you to work closely with young people and being responsive to their needs to provide exposure to various opportunities, giving you exposure to the youth work and charitable sector. The role is based in one of YouthAction’s regional offices; however, you will be required to travel to other locations and communities as assigned to you as part of the role. The ideal candidate is expected to behave in a professional manner at all times and adhere to YouthAction’s charter of expected behaviours.

Essential Criteria

  • Possess a minimum of two years’ professional experience working with young people.
  • Previous experience in community relations and peacebuilding with young people.
  • Previous experience in delivering formal training and accredited courses to participants in a learning capacity.
  • Previous experience in mentoring young people in a way that is tailored to their specific needs and requirements.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office packages, particularly Word and Excel.• Proven track record in working towards targets/outputs as designated by an authority body.
  • Possess good organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders, partners, and organisations as part of the wider project.
  • Possess excellent time management skills.
  • Possess the ability to work on own initiative and be self-motivated in relation to work and assigned outputs/targets.
  • Possess a flexible approach to work, with an ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a small team.
  • Possess a current UK driving licence, be able to travel across various locations, including rural locations as part of the project’s outreach focus or be committed to achieving a full UK Driving Licence within 6 months of start date.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience of working in the Charity Sector.
  • Possess or currently working towards a 3rd level qualification in a youth work related discipline.
