Ladies Nite In

Ladies Nite In - organised by young women for young women

On Thursday 15th December there was an event held in the Share Centre, Lisnaskea for young women aged 16-25years. The event was organised by a group of young women from Lisnaskea involved in a programme through the Right Here Fermanagh project run by YouthAction NI.
The event took place from 7.00-9.00pm, the aim being “to prepare young women’s positive mental health for Christmas and provide advice so they can start the New Year on a good note” (Nicole aged 16). The event consisted of two methods, one being a support and advice services being available for the young women whom attended, these organisation included The Samaritans, Right Here Fermanagh, WELB, The Oak Healthy Living Centre, Volunteer Now, Breakthru and SUSE. The other side of the event was exploring relaxation methods which were identified by the young women present on the night was a massage therapist, a nail technician and a makeup artist. The young women that attended the event had the opportunity to explore the different stalls, talk to local organisations and enjoy meeting new people.

One young lady that attended the event commented “I have been so stressed this week with exams and all. This has really helped me, I feel relieved” (Sophie aged 18years). Other comments included “There should be more events like this. A place for young women to talk about issues”(Nadene aged 18years).
