Moving On: An Opportunity for Young Mothers

Description:

The Moving On programme is a pre-vocational accredited training programme specifically designed to suit the needs of young mothers. The purpose of the Moving On programme has been to provide both practical and emotional support to young mothers to help build their capacity for positive choices and independence. Practically, the programme does this by promoting independence and autonomy among the participants through enhancing their employability or training opportunities. Emotionally, it provides valuable time, space and social contact with other young mothers to enable participants to step back and make sense of their situation, sense of self and self esteem. The course offers a suite of training opportunities including OCN certificate for progression, British Red Cross First Aid for child-carers and ECDL or CLAIT computer training.
