‘Young people need self esteem, a sense of belonging to something , to be able to make a contribution to their community’
Following the research ‘A Sense of Belonging’ (1997), YouthAction Northern Ireland has delivered a number of community based projects in South Armagh & South Tyrone. This has been an attempt to highlight and address the needs and issues most critical to young people from rural communities in Northern Ireland. This work has been underpinned by a community development approach and has explored a number of themes such as social exclusion, isolation and young people’s position within their community.
