Youth-Arts is and has been for some 20 years, one of YouthAction Northern Ireland’s main stream “core” youth work priorities and all of our Youth-Arts development programmes are therefore underpinned by the agencies overriding youth work principles and practices.

Within YouthAction’s Rainbow Youth-Arts Unit we strive to provide a wide range of not only “youth friendly”, but also quality performing arts related training and experiences for young people who are keen to have fun while developing their interest and involvement in the performing and allied arts.

Through year-round programmes which include; our weekly drama, dance and vocal workshop sessions at our Rainbow Factory classes in our Studio in the centre of Belfast, our Rainbow Satellite classes in Banbridge, our numerous annual performances & productions, plus a range of Outreach projects and our issue based theatre opportunities, we are able to impact on many thousands for urban and rural young people’s lives each year. Most of who would be without access to traditional or youth-theatre/arts opportunities, if our programmes didn’t exist.

We believe that by investing in young people through a combination of:

  1. aiming for the highest artistic standards in workshops and productions, by using professional tutor/artists
  2. and by providing accredited training, tutor shadowing and production skills opportunities and encouraging the membership to take on leadership roles

we demonstrate best youth work practice in an ARTISTIC way.
